How You Can Prepare To Re-Open Your Business

Posted by Courtney Hutchison | Apr 30, 2020 | 0 Comments

Prepare and Implement COVID-19 Safety Procedures:

When it comes time to re-open your doors, already having safety procedures in place will bolster employee and customer trust. These procedures can also be used in your marketing efforts and will build public confidence in your business practices.

Clean Like You Mean It:

Before you re-open, you should clean your establishment from top to bottom. Cleanse, sanitize, and re-organize. Once open, you should keep a rigorous cleaning schedule as well. Your business should be clean and appear clean at all times. Keeping your business clean will give your customers and employees great comfort and will encourage your customers to keep coming back for more.

Social Distancing, Social Distancing, Social Distancing:

Social distancing is the name of the game. If your business can make it easy for your customers to remain apart, your customers will feel more secure and will be more likely to return or recommend your business to others. You can achieve this by utilizing some of the same techniques which are currently being used in grocery stores (i.e. only allowing a few customers at a time, using floor markings to space customers, directing traffic flow within the store, etc). This is something you can easily do prior to opening up for business and should be a part of your COVID-19 safety procedures.

Stay Up-To-Date On All Local, State, And Federal Regulations:

Your customers and employees trust that you are operating in compliance with all relevant regulations. Making sure that you are staying apprised of the pertinent re-opening rules will ensure you are maintaining customer safety and will help you avoid being fined for non-compliance. Not having an up-to-date plan could potentially turn customers away from your business and will increase anxiety amongst your staff. Do yourself a favor, be patient and respect the process.

Market Your Re-Opening and COVID-19 Plans:

Letting your customers know that you are open and have their safety at heart, will help you attract business. Although this may seem obvious, it is important that you make an effort to market your re-opening. During this crisis, many business have gone out of business and the public is largely unsure which businesses have survived. Get on your social media, update your website, and contact previous customers to let them know that you are back in business and ready to safely serve them. Tell customers about your COVID-19 safety procedures and reassure them that you are taking their safety seriously.

Although there are many other steps you can take to prepare your business to reopen, these are just a few general ideas to help you begin the process. The above is not legal advice, but should you need legal advice regarding the re-opening of your business, please contact us . We are here to help you navigate through these uncertain times.
